AMMA

My interest for religious practices and the current global search for a sense of purpose led me to India. I enrolled on a tour with Amma, “the hugging saint”, to document the life of the the people around her, those who were so dedicated to help setting up the massive events where she regularily welcomes big crowds.

Leaving aside the traditional view of this colorful country, I chose to hide the identity of the participants and focus on the postures, habits and places that surround the practice of spirituality, as well as the rigor and commitment which can be seen on a daily basis. Discipline, self-sacrifice, an alternance of big crowds and solitude, movements outward and inward, are parts of this spiritual seekers’ journey.
